The UK's Data Use and Access Bill is making progress

Since it was first introduced to the UK Parliament in October, the approval process for the Use and Access Bill (DUA Bill) has been progressing.

The bill’s seven sections offer UK residents data privacy protection, covering issues such as financial data, digital verification services,  digital registration and management of births and deaths, transitioning from the Information Commissioner’s Office to the newly formed Information Commission, access to health data, and more. Amendments recently introduced by the House of Lords include new standards for the protection of scientific data, as well as specific requirements related to AI models, among other enhancements.

The House of Commons will look into these amendments, and the law is expected to be finalized soon, after it passes the third House of Commons reading.
