CPPA and ICO sign declaration of cooperation

The California Privacy Protection Agency (CPPA) and the UK Information Commissioner's Office (UK ICO) have announced a newly signed declaration of cooperation that includes joint research and education efforts addressing emerging technologies and unprecedented use cases, as well as a knowledge and best-practices exchange.

Shared knowledge and research enable regulators to stay current with the latest advancements and gain a broader perspective. The CCPA collaborates with international data protection agencies in various locations, with similar initiatives between California and South Korea, France, and other regions.

These collaborations reinforce the notion that local data privacy regulations have a global impact and cannot be dismissed by organizations operating in seemingly unrelated areas. Such steps could also lead to greater consistency in how privacy laws are approached and enforced across markets.
