The Hellenic Data Protection Authority (DPA) has fined Clearview AI €20 million for EU GDPR violations. The company, which sells facial recognition software to law enforcement agencies in the United States, is banned from collecting and processing the personal data of Greek citizens and has been ordered to delete any data already collected. Earlier this year, Italy’s DPA fined the company €20M for unlawfully processing the data of Italian citizens where the U.K.’s Information Commissioner’s Office announced a penalty of more than 7.5 million pounds in the same respect.
