Saudi Arabia Launches Regulatory Sandbox for Data Protection
The Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority has launched the Data and Privacy Regulatory Sandbox. The purported goal of the sandbox is to offer guidance, consultations and expertise to "capitalize on the value of data" while "safeguarding consumers' personal data rights."
The SDAIA noted the goal of the sandbox is to help foster technological innovation in data and data privacy so the industry can keep pace with overall technical progress while keeping consumers' data safe. The initiative is yet another step forward for the Saudi economy as the nation looks to focus more on overall technological innovation.
Applications to the sandbox are open and will be accepted through March 16.
