Global law firm DLA Piper releases an annual report titled GDPR Fines and Data Breach Survey. Findings from the firm’s most recent report include that European regulators issued approximately €1.2 billion in GDPR fines during 2025, a significant increase in notified personal data breaches, and more.

This fascinating report provides a broad perspective and aggregates the post-GDPR picture, putting total fines since the regulation took effect in May 2018 through early January 2026 at about €7.1 billion across the surveyed jurisdictions.
